To avid moviegoers, she represents the essence of onscreen dramatic art, and classifying her as a contemporary reincarnation of Eleonora Duse or Sarah Bernhardt would not overstate the case. All of which makes us wonder why she appeared in the dreadful Death Becomes Her or more recently in the hugely successful Mamma Mia - a role surely meant for a younger actress? Still a great choice for a meaty character role.
